What Do Regis Philbin and Hulk Hogan Have in Common?
First Hogan's 17,000-square-foot Belleair, Fla., home that he now hopes to get $9,242,000 for. It had been listed most recently at $10.9 million but it started at $25 million back in 2006 and briefly landed at $13.9 million in 2009. The former WWE star and current Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) talent used the house to film his VH1 reality show, "Hogan Knows Best." Apparently when it came to real estate, he didn't.The five-bedroom, eight-bath estate has a guest apartment, boat house, two boat lifts and a floating dock on a total 1.5 acres.
Then there's Regis' place in Greenwich, Conn., now on the market at $3.8 million. Another long and sad price history. He bought it in 1992 for $2.5 million and at one point listed it for $5.4 million, which quickly became $4.9 million, going on and off the market often enough to make our head spin. The house was built in 1980 and sits on 5.68 acres with a pool and tennis court. The house, which was featured in Architectural Digest magazine in 2002, has all the things Martha Stewart has trained us to expect of a Connecticut estate -- a library with a wet bar, a gourmet kitchen with a breakfast nook that opens to a covered terrace, gardens, gazebos. There are four bedrooms, including the master suite.
We get that Florida real estate is in the toilet and the Hulk is going to have to throw a beat down to get his house sold. But why isn't Regis' house in Connecticut selling? We suppose that's the million-dollar question and he may need to phone a friend.
