Chef Paul Kahan Slips Past Chicago Airport Security With Chef Knives

Airport screeners at Chicago's O'Hare International on Thursday failed to spot a man sneaking four large knives on to a plane. Don't worry though, this story ends well for everyone except the TSA because the man in question was James Beard Award-winning chef Paul Kahan.


Kahan, a partner is such classy Chicago establishments as Blackbird, avec, and The Publican, forgot he was carrying around four massive knives - presumably because that is normal chef behavior - until after he'd been patted down by airport security. Startled by his discovery, he issued a thoughtful tweet.


This just after airport screeners in Newark were caught racially profiling Mexicans and Dominicans. Maybe the officers were to busy patting down babies to notice a grown man who happened to be armed to the teeth. Someone really needs to start sitting in on TSA training sessions. This getting ridiculous.
