Updated

Real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran has a classic rags-to-riches story. She tells it in her latest book, "Shark Tales: How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion-Dollar Business." While working as a diner waitress, Corcoran met the man who would become her boyfriend and business partner. He gave her $1,000 to start her real-estate company.
