Babysitter Can't Believe It's Not Butter ... er, Pot
A 22-year-old Pennsylvania babysitter was fired and reported to the police after reportedly serving her three charges toast slathered with a buttery substance laced with pot that she kept in an I Can't Believe It's Not Butter container. She is now facing charges of marijuana possession and child endangerment.
The 12-year-old girl in the sitter's care said that Stevie Hickey of Upper Burrell Township spread the mixture on two pieces of toast and told the children it was "parsley butter." Apparently the girl's mother became suspicious when she heard the story, searched the sitter's freezer, and found the mixture in a tub of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter." She then called the police.
"From my training and experience, I could smell it was marijuana mixed in butter," wrote Upper Burrell Officer Robert Speer in Hickey's arrest report.
According to the Valley New Dispatch, Hickey told police that she had learned how to make the pot-laced butter from a recipe she'd found on the internet, whipped up a batch, put it in her freezer, and had forgotten all about it.
That could prove to be a costly mistake. Still, things could be worse for Hickey. She is free right now on her own recognizance after waiving a preliminary hearing. The case will be scheduled for trial in Westmoreland County Court in the near future.
