Today the world learned that "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris would be returning for a second stint as host of this year's June 12th Emmys show, and earlier this week Harris learned his Studio City home has been sold for pretty close to asking price. A good week, no?

The ranch house was built in 1950 and sits on more than half an acre, with mountain and valley views. The main house is 2,408 square feet and has three bedrooms and two bathrooms; there's also a guest suite with a separate entrance. The outdoor entertaining area includes an island barbecue, pergola-shaded dining patio and a pool with spa.

In terms of real estate deals, the 37-year-old actor -- who will forever be known as Dr. Doogie Howser -- had a relatively painless experience. He listed the property in mid-March at $1,599,000 and it sold this week for $1,535,000. He bought it in 2007 for $1.5 million; it is not known if he renovated the home and if so, at what cost.

Harris probably shouldn't expect the Emmys to go as smoothly as the house sale. Although he hosted the 2009 show to rave reviews and won an Emmy last year for a guest appearance on the hit show "Glee," ratings for TV awards shows are precarious.

Monty Iceman of Prudential California Realty, Encino, was the listing agent. Sue Bromiley of Coldwell Banker, Sherman Oaks, represented the buyer.
