CrowdStar hires ex-Glu Mobile executive Alex Galvagni as Head of Studios

Updated

Earlier this week, Zynga announced their acquisition of Wonderland, creator of the iPhone game GodFinger, and created Zynga Mobile UK to further help the company reach out into the ever-growing mobile space. Now, it seems that CrowdStar is also looking for a wider presence in the mobile arena, as they have announced that they have hired a former Glu Mobile executive, Alex Galvagni, as a new Head of Studios.

While CrowdStar's properties have landed on iPhone in the past with the help of Sibblingz (including Zoo Paradise and Happy Island), Galvagni's in-depth experience with mobile gaming should help the company push themselves one-step further. In a company press release, CrowdStar CEO Peter Relan praised Galvagni's experience, and was enthusiastic about what he could bring to the team:

"We are absolutely thrilled to bring Alex's depth of experience to the CrowdStar team as we continue on our path of rapid growth. He has a proven track record of developing companies to private and public exits and expanding them globally."

Inside Social Games adds to the story today, saying that Galvagni will oversee the company's game release schedule, with one new Facebook game being expected in the near future, and then one new product being available "generally speaking" each quarter of the year after that. In addition, the company's mobile games will no longer simply be companion apps for their already established Facebook games (as both Zoo Paradise and Happy Island were), although no specific details as to the all-original apps were released.

We'll make sure to keep an eye on CrowdStar's new developments, but for now, let us know what you think of this announcement in the comments. Are you looking forward to seeing more from CrowdStar on your smart phone, or should the developer stick to Facebook?
