Last year, the federal government made substantial progress in the regulation of thousands of children's products, child safety advocacy group Kids in Danger (KID) stated in its 2010 annual report on recalls and other actions by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

"It seems CPSC is acting a little quicker than [in] 2009 when there were over 4,000 incidents, including two recalls with more than 1,300 reports each of a hazard and six more with more than 100 reports," the KID report stated.

But all the news wasn't good. While toy recalls were down from 2009 figures, the percentage of children's products recalled was up slightly last year, with 160 recalls. And there were 1,587 incidents related to these products before they were recalled.
