Dogs Getting Upgraded Accommodations in 7 Pennsylvania State Parks

Finally, an enlightened state. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced a pilot program to begin in 2012 that will allow dogs to stay with their owners in select state park cabins and cottages.

Pets are currently permitted at designated sites in 47 Pennsylvania state park campgrounds, but under the pilot program, they'll have upgraded accommodations at seven state parks. They're not permitted to be left alone in the cabin or cottage and must stay on leash.

The dogs' presence will cost an extra $5 per night for the modern and deluxe cabins and $2 for the the standard cottages. No more than two dogs will be permitted per cabin; other rules will apply.
