Severe Weather Causes Airport Hangar to Collapse, Trapping 70
ABC News is reporting onlookers had gathered at the airport for the Sun 'n' Fun Aviation Fair when a storm rapidly made its way through the area.
"Several people are out there, viewing some of the aircrafts," Brian LaMarre of the National Weather Service tells ABC News. "We had some planes that flipped over," he adds.
According to officials, emergency crews were able to get into the hangar and free those who were trapped, including seven people who had sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.
At the St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport, several small planes were also blown over, reports Fox News.
Today was the second day of storms in the region. Yesterday, strong winds blew a 2,860-passenger Carnival cruise ship from its dock at Port Canaveral near Orlando.
