Trader Joe's Recalls Frozen Pizza Over Spice Blend

A pizza spice blend prompted a recall of 131,000 pounds of Trader Joe's Pizza Al Pollo Asado because it has wheat in it that isn't listed on the label, said U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

In a statement to customers, Trader Joe's said no one has reported getting sick from eating the pizzas. "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience," the upscale grocer said in its statement.

Wheat is one of the top foods that cause allergic reactions, along with milk, eggs, peanuts, nuts and shellfish. Food allergies cause 2,000 hospitalizations and 150 deaths each year, said the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
