IRS To Hold Open Houses Across the Country Saturday

open house sign - IRS open houseThe IRS has announced that it will be opening nearly 100 IRS offices across the country Saturday, March 26, to assist taxpayers with their tax issues.

IRS offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time and will be staffed by IRS employees. Employees will be able to assist with tax return preparation, help you resolve answers about your personal tax account and advise on other issues. You can find a list of participating offices, arranged by state, on the IRS website.IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman has said, about the open house, "We are opening our doors this Saturday to help taxpayers who may not have a chance to seek assistance during the work week. We are very focused on providing services to taxpayers when they want it, where they want it."

Last year, the IRS offered similar extended hours. According to the IRS, more than 35,000 taxpayers were able to resolve 95% of their issues at those events.

The IRS has already held a number of special events this year to assist taxpayers, including offering assistance for those taxpayers who needed help figuring the Earned Income Tax Credit. In addition, the IRS has announced that it expects to open many of its offices on two more Saturdays later this year.
