Google wins 'Most Attractive' Employer Title, But Apple and Disney are Close
If they held a beauty pageant for potential employers, Google would get the crown. One in four young professionals would like to work there, according to a survey by Universum, which asked respondents which American companies would be the most attractive employers.
The majority of companies on the top 10 list were either high tech, such as Google, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft, or government entities including the State Department, the CIA, the FBI and NASA. But the Magic Kingdom is also a popular work destination; Disney came in third to Google and Apple.
Keep in mind that this is a survey of young professionals. For the survey, Universum asked more than 10,000 young professionals (those with college degrees and one to eight years of work experience), to pick the top five employers from a list of 150. They were also allowed to write in additional companies not on the list. It's no surprise the Facebook was the top write-in.
Service organizations like Teach America and the Peace Corps also scored well, coming in at 10 and 11. The American Cancer Society was No. 19. Health organizations, such as the National Institute of Health, the Mayo Clinic and the Centers for Disease Control placed in the top 20 as well.
Whole Foods was the only retailer to make the top 20 list. Manufacturers such as Nike and Johnson & Johnson also showed up in the top 20 list, at 12 and 13, respectively.
The list of the 20 most attractive employers (which could also be the list of where you're likely to find the most competition for jobs from the under-30 crowd) is as follows:
