job interview Now that Americans are feeling safer about their jobs, many have returned to furnishing and decorating their homes. That could be one of the reasons why Scandinavian furniture store IKEA is expanding and taking on more employees.

Whatever the cause, they're opening a big new store in Centennial, near Denver, Colo., and hiring more than 450 employees for that location. But there are also hundreds of openings in other parts of the country -- and in other parts of the world, for that matter.

There are positions open in management, home furnishings sales, interior decoration, customer service, safety and security, cashier, maintenance, receiving, warehouse and stock replenishment. There are also openings for food service workers, from chefs and managers to bussers, because many of the IKEA stores, including the one in Centennial, have restaurants.

IKEA has been named one of Fortune magazine "100 Best Companies to Work For." One of the best perks is that the company offers full medical and dental insurance to many of their employees who work 20 hours or more a week. Some employees working less than 20 hours a week are also eligible for medical and dental insurance. The company also offers benefits including vacation time, maternity leave and 401(k) matching contribution programs.

Also, flex time: "If a coworker needs to take time off to find a nursing home for an aging parent, be home to kiss their child before bed or have flexible scheduling to best juggle caring for a newborn, one can do so without worrying about risking one's career," according to an IKEA press release.
