Pier 1 Recalls Tea Lights Over Fire Risk
The CPSC said Pier 1 received four reports of high flames. As many as 370,000 tea lights were sold in the United States and 30,000 in Canada at Pier 1 stores from September 2010 through January 2011 for $2 to $8.Included in the recall are all tea lights in golden tin cups sold in sets of five, with either the Red Ornament Tea Light Holder (SKU 2473959) or the White Ornament Tea Light Holder (SKU 2473961). Consumers can see the SKU number on the packaging.
If you have these tea lights, stop using them and return them to the store for a refund. Consumers can call Pier 1 at (800) 245-4595 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
An open flame always creates a potential fire hazard. Three consumers were hurt last year whenmetallic spinning candle holders sold by QVC caught fire. Yankee Candle recalled taper candles last year because of flammable metallic paint.
