Alex Rodriguez to Buy Manhattan Condo

Updated

Alex Rodriguez has reportedly negotiated a deal to purchase a 4-bedroom condo that takes up the full 35th floor of a new 41-story highrise located on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

The contract hasn't been signed yet, but Gary Barnett, the developer of The Rushmore, said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that Rodriguez and his broker, Adam Modlin, had worked out the details a few days ago. Barnett's company Extell Development also released a statement saying Rodriguez "loved the building, the park and the water views, but we think that the clincher was the baseball field outside the front door."

As AOL Real Estate reported about a year ago, Rodriguez was being given the boot from his $30,000 per month two-bedroom rental at 15 Central Park West, as his landlord, steel magnate Leroy Schecter, put up as a joint $55 million sale the unit and its three-bedroom neighbor, then rented by Cendant founder Henry Silverman.
