is recalling the handles on about 7,000 of its Perfect Pullup exercise devices after getting an astounding 2,200 reports of their handles cracking and breaking. The 38 complaints of resulting injuries include bruises, strains and sprains, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

The percentage of handles that consumers complained about represents nearly one-third of those sold -- a staggering amount. Most recalls happen after no more than a handful of complaints.

Perfect Fitness President Mark Friedman sent a statement to Consumer Ally that said the Perfect Pullups affected by the recall are but a small percentage of the total sold.
