Updated

Honda (HMC) is recalling almost 700,000 vehicles because of problems that could cause engines to stall.

The affected vehicles include Fit, Freed and City compact car models in Asia and North America, BBC News reported.

More than 100 complaints have been filed about the fault, though no accidents have been reported.

Honda traced the problem to a spring that had been placed incorrectly in the engine.

The company is recalling 122,000 cars in North America, 167,000 vehicles in Japan, 156,000 in China and 233,000 in the rest of Asia.
