Burlington Basket Bassinet Recall: They Can Collapse
The CPSC said if the cross-bracing rails aren't locked into position, the bassinets can collapse. The two babies suffered minor injuries, including a bruise to the head and a bruised shoulder.Included in the recall are all Burlington Basket bassinets made before June 2010 that have folding legs attached to the basket with white plastic pins. The bassinets were sold at Walmart and other stores and online, including on Amazon.com, from January 2003 through August 2010 for about $50 each. The bassinets were assembled in the United States with components made in the U.S. and China.
Consumers should immediately stop using the bassinets and check that the cross-bracing support rails are locked in position. Consumers can contact Burlington Basket for a free kit with instructions on proper assembly of the rails. A video with the assembly instruction is also available. Call Burlington Basket at (800) 553-2300 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays, Eastern Time.
Earlier this month, CPSC warned consumers about the SafetyCraft line of cribs thought to be the same as another brand of cribs that was blamed in deaths of three babies.
