New FarmVille Crops: Golden Poppies, Jalapenos, & Leeks

As if all of the new crop types released in the Greenhouse in FarmVille weren't enough, Zynga has updated the store with three new permanent crops - one flower, and two food items, with one of these items being familiar to veteran players.

The first crop, the Golden Poppies, will likely seem familiar, and that is due to the fact that the crop was originally released as part of the California event of limited edition items back in February of 2010. At the time, the Golden Poppies cost 120 coins to plant and were ready to harvest in eight hours. Now, though, this new release of the crop sees them being heavily discounted to just 50 coins to plant. However, you'll need to wait a full day to harvest them. They can be sold for 130 coins per square, and you'll earn 2 experience points for each square of the Poppies that you plant. Additionally, Golden Poppies can be mastered this time around, with the three stars of mastery coming after 320, 640, and 960 harvests, respectively.

The other two crops are entirely new, and are the Jalapenos and Leeks. Meet us behind the break for all the details about these two new crops.

First, the Jalapenos. These peppers can be planted for 80 coins per square, and you'll gain just a single experience point for each square planted. Jalapenos grow for eight hours, and are then ready to be harvested, giving you 130 coins per square. The Jalapeno crop can be mastered, with the three mastery stars being available after harvesting the crop 800, 1600, and 2400 times. Get ready for the long haul, because these guys will probably take you quite a while to master fully.

As for the Leeks, they don't require as many harvests to master, but they aren't exactly easy either. Leeks can be planted for 95 coins, and are ready to harvest after 16 hours. You'll be able to sell the Leeks for 220 coins per square, and you'll gain two experience point for each Leek planted. As for mastery, you'll earn the three stars for Leeks at 600, 1200, and 1800 harvests.

As we said before, all three of these crops are permanent additions to the game's store, with no expiration date in sight. That being the case, feel free to leave them for a while, if you have other crops you'd like to master first. They'll be waiting for you when you're ready.

Are you going to jump into mastering any one of these three crops, or will you wait until you've mastered other things first? Let us know in the comments.
