Kids Free as Disney Discounts Alaska Cruises

Disney Cruise Line is gong to Alaska for the first time this year and offering a discount on select sailings with a new "Kids Free" promotion.

The discount deal applies to passengers 17 and under, on weeklong Alaska cruises departing May 3 to June 7, on the Disney Wonder.

The kids are free when sharing an Oceanview or Verandah cabin with two full-fare paying adults. But the "free" applies to the fare only -- government taxes and fees for the kids still need to be paid.

Adult fares for the cabins in the promotion are from $1,249 per person.

Disney Cruise Line spokesman Jason Lasecki notes the "Kids Free" discount applies only to some early season sailings on the much-anticipated new itinerary, which will be offered May to September.

"Bookings for Alaska have been good," he tells AOL Travel News.

The Disney Wonder will cruise round-trip from Vancouver to the Alaskan ports of Skagway, Ketchikan and Juneau.

For the new route, the line has been developing special Port Adventures to appeal to the family crowd including a gold-panning expedition with Disney characters in Skagway and a Glacier Dog Musher for a Day excursion in Juneau.
