Free Pizza at Papa John's With Superbowl Overtime

Papa John's Pizza Super Bowl promotion

Papa John's is offering a very tasty freebie -- a free Super Bowl pizza to every American -- if the big game this Sunday goes into overtime. Which it never has. But if it does, the chain estimates it'll give away 100,000 large pies.

To get in on the deal, make sure to open an account with Papa John's and sign up for Papa Points by Feb. 5, 2011, at 11:59 p.m. PST. Registering makes it easy to order pizza online. Then, if the big game goes into overtime, you'll get a credit of 25 Papa Points, which you can redeem online for a free pie.

The chain figures buzz about free pizzas -- even if they don't have to give any away -- is worth more than buying an ad during this Sunday's Super Bowl (up to $3 million for a 30-second commercial, in case you were wondering). "We'd rather give away millions in free pizzas than spend millions on a spot," Papa John's marketing chief Andrew Varga told USA Today.

If you can't wait for a post-Super Bowl overtime pizza, Papa John's will be randomly giving away pizzas to customers who order a pizza online on Super Bowl Sunday.

Caveats: You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the U.S. to be eligible for this deal. Void in Puerto Rico. One free pizza per person.
