Open Airplane Door Causes Emergency Landing

A United Express plane with a suspected open passenger door made an emergency landing at the Burlington International Airport in Vermont, shortly after takeoff yesterday. The flight had been headed to Washington-Dulles.

The Airport Operations office in Burlington says a light in the plane's cockpit indicated a door was open and that the pilot was having problems steering.

Firefighters, police and ambulance crews met the plane.

The flight, operated for United by Atlantic Southeast Airlines, had 43 passengers and crew onboard. No injuries were reported.

An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
