TripAdvisor Announces 2011 'Traveler's Choice' Awards for Hotels
TripAdvisor used information submitted from 20 million reviewers to dish out the awards, which are presented in the form of top 10 and top 25 lists. Award categories include 'Best Romance,' 'Best Luxury' and 'Best Bargain,' which are first organized by the top hotels in the world and then further whittled down by region.
When all was said and done, 676 properties received awards. In a press release, TripAdvisor says the average nightly rate for winning hotels is $283, but one-third of the winners come with an average price tag of $150 or less per night.
According to TripAdvisor reviewers, the Golden Well in Prague is the top hotel in the world. At spot number 17, Cedarbrook Lodge in Seattle is the first property in the United States on the list.
The only hotel in the United States to take a top honor in the worldwide set of awards is the SeaCoast Inn in Hyannis, Massachusetts. At $78 to $118 during low season, the SeaCoast won the 'Best Bargain' award.
"Based on reviews from millions of travelers around the globe, TripAdvisor is able to recognize the world's most outstanding hotels for the ninth year of the Travelers' Choice Awards," says Karen Drake, senior director of communications for TripAdvisor. "Outstanding service, great value and top quality are hallmarks of our Travelers' Choice winners."
