Win $10,000 for Following Your Dreams

Vonda White Tampa entrepreneur and author Vonda White is offering readers a chance to win $10,000 for following their dreams. White herself has struggled against great odds to achieve success, and has recently written and released 'Success Against the Odds,' a book that features her story, as well as the experiences of several other prominent people. Now she's inviting readers to share their stories, by working on their goals for one year and writing about their accomplishments.

The entrant with the most inspiring story will be awarded the grand prize of $10,000, and several others will be awarded monetary prizes of $1,000. "I'm excited to give hope to those who are struggling," White says . "I've been there. I know the feelings of hopelessness and despair. This book helps you make a plan to overcome the odds and live the life you've always dreamed of. And with the possibility of winning $10,000, many people will have that extra incentive to live their dreams."

White notes that every school day, about 7,000 students decide to drop out of school -- a total of 1.2 million students each year -- and only about 70 percent of entering high school freshmen graduate every year. Without a high school diploma, young people are less likely to succeed in the work force. Statistics show that school dropouts are more likely to be involved with criminal activity. If they are exposed to the possibilities of improving their life, they have a chance of breaking this cycle.

"I was once in their shoes," says White. "I would collect soda bottles to get the deposit money in order to buy shampoo. We all have the power to improve our lives. We don't need to be a statistic; we need to be the solution by teaching our children how to goal set and be the best they can be. We can change our nation -- we can change a generation into something strong!"

White's book focuses on achieving success regardless of your circumstances, with several stories of people including Debbie Fields, founder of Mrs. Fields Cookies; Rich De Vos of Amway; Brian Scudamore of 1-800-Got-Junk, and many others. In addition to telling her story, White gives readers advice on setting and reaching their goals.
