Travelers Can Now Rate Airlines on TripAdvisor
The new system allows travelers to receive first-hand feedback from other fliers about their airline experiences while searching for flight options.
The system is more structured than TripAdvisor's free-flowing hotel reviews, allowing travelers to grade airlines on a scale of one to five in eight different categories: baggage handling; check-in experience; in-flight amenities (including seatback entertainment and Internet); friendliness and attentiveness of in-flight service; punctuality of flight; reasonableness and clarity of fees; seat comfort; and overall flight value.
Travelers searching for flights can now see what percentage of TripAdvisor users recommend the airline by simply hovering their mouse over an airline name in search results. A more extensive rating breakdown is offered if the website visitors click the airline name.
Under TripAdvisor Flights, search results can be filtered by factors such as minimum rating and users are able to add reviews of their own.
"With the launch of airline ratings, the millions of travelers who use TripAdvisor Flights every month will now be able to get useful feedback on how airlines stack up against each other in terms of fees, value for the money, service, punctuality, baggage handling and a number of other factors to help ensure they have the best flight possible," says Bryan Saltzburg, general manager of TripAdvisor Flights in a press release.
