Official FarmVille Podcast (01/07/11): Official confirmation of Duck Ponds, Valentine's Day preview

Updated

After taking a long break for the Winter Holidays, Zynga has launched the latest edition of the official FarmVille podcast, where FarmVille Community Manager Lexilicious gave us a sneak peek of things that will be coming to the game in the near future.

First, we have received official confirmation that Duck Ponds will be coming to the game. The Duck Pond will be a constructable item that will be able to store not only your Ducks, but also your Swans. While it will be able to hold more than five, you'll be able to display five of your chosen Ducks or Swans that are visible when simply looking at the Duck Pond while playing the game. You will be able to collect or "Harvest" from the Duck Pond once daily, and when doing so, you'll have the chance to find either a Yellow or a Brown Duckling, similar to the random chance of finding a Mystery Egg when harvesting your Chicken Coop.

You'll need your friends' help to raise this duckling into a full-grown Duck. We're not sure exactly what the manner of "helping" will be (gift requests, wall posts, etc.), but Zynga did tell us that the quicker your raise the Duckling, the better your reward will be. Again, what these rewards are exactly is as-of-yet unknown.

In other sneak peeks, we've learned that there will be a new constructable item released as part of the Valentine's Day event, with this buildable item being similar to the Haunted House released back at Halloween. This likely means that we'll be able to collect some sort of item from the object (valentines? candies? flowers? teddy bears?) once it has been built to help with a probable collection event. Last year's Valentine Day celebration was also a collection event, so it will be interesting to see how this year differs.

We'll be sure to give you all of the details about these new features when the become available, so keep checking back. In the meantime, if you'd like to hear the entire Podcast, which includes a recap of recent releases, check it out in full at the top of this post.

What type of event would you like to participate in this Valentine's Day season? Are you looking forward to adding a Duck Pond to your farm? Let us know in the comments.
