Billy Joel Drops Beach House by $4M
The Piano Man's classic wood-shingle beach house is set in desirable Sagaponack, N.Y. The 4-bedroom, 6-bath, 6,000-square-foot house was originally listed at $22.5 million, then lowered to $19.9 in September. It is now listed at $18.5 with Biana Stepanian of The Corcoran Group. That's a $4 million, or 17 percent, discount.
No doubt, multimillion-dollar beach houses are hard to move these days; but, by all accounts, this is a plum abode.
Paradise Found, as it's called, boasts 145 feet of oceanfront. Nate Berkus of Oprah fame designed the breezy interiors. Berkus also designed the interior of Billy and Katie Lee's Greenwich Village townhouse, which, incidentally, Katie Lee ended up with in the divorce settlement. And thanks to Joel's ex, a West Virginia-honey-turned-food personality, the beach house has a spacious stainless-steel kitchen. Its bedrooms are on the first floor, in order to take advantage of the views upstairs for the living spaces, which feature vaulted ceilings and French doors leading to a large deck.
Yes, this glass house was shattered, but don't cry for the Piano Man: From the looks of his latest 29-year-old girlfriend, he's bounced back.
