Microsoft Sold More than 8 Million Xbox Kinects in 60 Days

Updated

Software giant Microsoft (MSFT) says it sold more than 8 million Xbox Kinect motion-sensing game system in the first 60 days since launch, easily beating the company's target of 5 million.

The sales of the Kinect also top that of Sony Corp's (SNE) competing Move system, Reuters said. Sony sold 4.1 million units of Move in its first two months. That figure does not take into account the peak December holiday shopping month.

Both the Kinect and the Move track body gestures for video games. The Move costs $50 or $400 bundled with a PlayStation 3. Microsoft's Kinect retails for $150 or $300 bundled with a 4-gigabyte Xbox console.
