Free Annual Credit Report

Get a free credit report once a year from AnnualCreditReport.com, a site sponsored by the three major credit reporting companies, Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. You can request your free credit report online, over the phone or via the mail. The last two options are not instantaneous, however.

If you have not taken advantage of this free service in 2010, now is the time. The only downside is that the report does not include your credit score. Still, you'll need the report to find any errors that are affecting your score. It is very important to know your credit score, according to Consumer Reports.
