Honda Recalls Snowblowers After Fuel Leaks Create Fire Risk
American Honda Motor Co. Inc. has taken 90 reports of fuel seeping or dripping from the tanks. No fires have been reported.The red and black Honda snowblowers were made in Japan and sold at Honda Power Equipment dealers nationwide from April 2005 through November 2010 for between $2,000 and $3,400.
The following models and serial numbers are included in the recall:
- Model HS724 with frame serial numbers SZBE-1037913 through 1046577.
- Model HS928 with frame serial numbers SZAS-1151080 through 1169012.
- Model HS1132 with frame serial numbers SZBF-1018734 through 1025998.
Consumers should stop using the snowblowers and drain the gas tanks until they can get a free fuel tank joint repair and o-ring replacement from any Honda Power Equipment dealer. Call Honda at (888) 888-3139 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday.
A fuel leak also prompted the July recall of almost 40,000 Toro Snow Blowers with the company getting 2,200 reports from consumers.
