Newark Airport Terminal Temporarily Closed Over Possible Bomb

A terminal at New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport was briefly shut down today after the discovery of a suspicious package officials at first feared was a bomb.

The device was found near an American Airlines counter where checked bags are screened, in the airport's Terminal A. The discovery was reportedly made by a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employee.

Terminal A was closed and the bomb squad and emergency vehicles were called to the scene. An "all clear" was later given, and passengers were allowed back into the terminal.

The rest of the airport remained open during the scare.

The FBI says in a statement the device appeared to be a computer monitor that was emitting small amounts of radiation, which is normal. The owner of the checked package had already boarded the flight.
