Virgin America Launches Service to Mexico

San Francisco-based Virgin America headed south-of-the-border for the first time with a flight to San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. The launch was celebrated with a fiesta-style sendoff at San Francisco International Airport.

Mexico is Virgin America's second international destination. In June, the carrier launched service to Toronto, Canada.

San Jose del Cabo's airport serves the popular resort area of Los Cabos at the southern tip of Baja California.

Virgin America has made its mark on the U.S. aviation scene by offering modern amenities such as an interactive seat-back entertainment system that even allows passengers to order meals and drinks in flight.

But the carrier notes that its live satellite TV and WiFi are not available on its aircraft after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
