President Obama Says, 'We Focused on Jobs'

On Wednesday, Dec. 15, President Barack Obama met with 20 corporate Big Foots. There was only one thing on the President's mind: getting America back to work, reports The New York Times.

And that's exactly what he told the media after the four hour meeting at the White House. The President announced, "We focused on jobs."

To accomplish this mission, the President put on the charm offensive. That meant talking the kind of talk businesspeople like to hear. Therefore, the conversation centered on less government interference and getting out of the private sector's way, fiscal restraint, free trade, tax cuts for corporations, and the realization that what's good for business is good for America. Among the executives who attended were:

  • Kenneth I. Chenault -- chief executive officer of American Express
  • Eric. E. Schmidt -- chairman and chief executive officer of Google
  • Indra K. Nooyi -- chairman and chief executive officer of PepsiCo, and
  • David M. Cote -- chairman of Honeywell International.
