41 Percent of Small/Medium-Sized Companies Hiring in 2011

Staffing company AppleOne announced some very encouraging economic news. In its survey of small and medium-sized companies, AppleOne found that 41 percent said they are hiring and 95 percent indicated they were not laying off in 2011. About 53 percent predicted they would leave their personnel head count as is.

This economic indicator is key because it's the small and medium-sized business sector that creates the lion's share of new jobs. The companies surveyed had an average staff of 267 workers. Also, some of them are start-ups that could blossom into the next version of Google or Starbucks.

Those interviewed voiced overall optimism about how they expect their revenues and profits to do in 2011. In essence, they are saying: The worst seems over.
