WikiLeaks Will Soon Have New Rival: OpenLeaks
Domscheit-Berg, who accused WikiLeaks of straying from its missions, says that OpenLeaks will be more transparent than WikiLeaks, Reuters reported.
OpenLeaks is not yet operational, with the site bearing only a logo and the message "Coming soon!"
"In these last months, the organization has not been open any more, it lost its open-source promise," he said, according to Reuters.
Domscheit-Berg would not give details on his dispute with WikiLeaks.
Companies including PayPal and Amazon have cut their ties with WikiLeaks, while Internet servers have refused to continue their service.
OpenLeaks will not actually publish the documents it receives from anonymous sources, according to Forbes. Instead, the source can specify organizations they would like the information to go to. OpenLeaks will then forward the information.
The site will begin trials early 2011 and turn to bigger media after that. The organization currently ahs 10 members.
"We are already drowning in applications," Domscheit-Berg said.
