Chrysler Recalls 76,000 Ram Trucks for Brake Problem

Updated

Chrysler Group is recalling 76,122 Ram trucks from the 2010 and 2011 models years to repair a problem with brake pedals that return too slowly after being depressed.

Some vehicles equipped with diesel engines and a hydroboost brake system may be equipped with a power-steering reservoir cap with excessive vent pressure levels that may result in brake pedals that are slow to return, according to a posting on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

The slowly returning brake pedal may result in brake lights that remain on even though the driver has released the pedal, increasing the risk of a crash, NHTSA said.

Models at risk for the problem were manufactured from March 2009 through October. Chrysler will notify owners beginning in February, the agency said. To repair the defect, dealers will replace the power steering reservoir cap free of charge.

Owners may contact Chrysler at 800-853-1403.
