Radio City Christmas Spectacular

Radio City Christmas Spectacular

The Radio City Rockettes first kicked their way onto the stage at New York's Radio City Music Hall on December 27, 1932, and almost immediately gained the status of American icons. The 36-member dance troupe is now most famous for their starring role each year in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular holiday show, which also features a Living Nativity with live animals, an indoor snowfall, fireworks and Santa Claus flying across the theater on a journey to the North Pole.

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular entertains nearly two million patrons every year at either the New York performances or the touring production in cities across the United States.

Radio City Christmas Spectacular: New York City

The 90-minute performances begin in early November and run until New Year's Eve, with three to five shows per day. The cast of 150 includes the Rockettes, singers, dancers, musicians and more. The Radio City Christmas spectacular performers go through more than 1,200 costumes, with the Rockettes changing costumes eight times each show, with as little as 78 seconds to do so during a few of the changeovers. The show has adopted several high-tech tweaks in recent years, including what is billed as the country's "largest flying indoor LED screen" that is incorporated into many of the scenes throughout the performance.
