Walgreens Comparable Sales Rose 3.2% in November

Walgreens (WAG) said November sales at stores open at least one year rose 3.2% from a year earlier, excluding sales at Duane Reade stores.

The effect of calendar day shifts boosted comparable sales by 1.5 percentage points, Walgreens said in a statement.

Total sales in November rose 8.6% from a year earlier to $5.83 billion, including sales at Duane Reade stores. Walgreens bought Duane Reade in April 2010.

The company administered more than 1 million flu shots in November. Walgreens has now administered 5.6 million flu shots this season.

"Considering the warm fall weather around much of the country and a lack of flu virus circulating, we're pleased we have provided more seasonal flu shots than we did at this point last year, when we ran out of flu vaccine supply in mid-October," said Kermit Crawford, Walgreens president of pharmacy services.
