How to Have An Expensive Christmas Tree - Add Baccarat and Cognac

The swank Sofitel London St. James hotel may have the most expensive Christmas tree in London. The sculptural tree is adorned with Baccarat crystal bottles holding Louis XIII, Grand-Champagne Cognac.

The estimated value of the sixteen-and-a-half-foot creation with the French luxury products is more than $55,000.

The 200 miniature bottles were handmade by Baccarat and finished with 24 carat gold. At least five expert craftsmen worked on each bottle, hotel officials say.

The bottles were then filled with a touch of liquid gold - really good cognac.

Above the tree is Baccarat's Zenith Midnight Chandelier with denim lamp shades. Continuing the theme, the hotel is displaying rare pieces of Baccarat jewelry in its public areas along with an exhibition of images from the Louis XIII cognac archive.

The property's SPA by Sofitel is getting into the spirit with Christmastime packages that include a take-home piece of Baccarat jewelry and a special treatment inspired by crystal, using rock crystal for a "soothing experience."

Not surprisingly, cognac drinks are being featured at the hotel's bar.
