Silicon Valley Hiring Drives Recovery in California

Updated

Silicon Valley companies are going through a hiring blitz, driving the recovery in California, reports John Shinal in IT-jobs.fins.com.

Thanks to jobs being created in technology, California unemployment plunged in October to 10.7 percent from 11.2 percent in September. Last year at the same time, the rate was at 11.8 percent.

During October and September, the San Jose metro area alone added 11,500 new jobs, according to the California Employment Development Department. The lion's share of hiring is at Internet companies and electronics manufacturers.

The biggest employers in Silicon Valley include Hewlett-Packard, Oracle, Intel, Google, and Apple.
