CBS Will Replace 'Early Show' Weekday Hosts in January

CBS (CBS) will replace its weekday hosts for The Early Show with the program's weekend anchors as the network moves to better compete with ABC's Good Morning America and NBC's The Today Show.

Hosts Erica Hill and Chris Wragge (pictured) will be co-anchors of the weekday version, while Jeff Glor will be news anchor and Marysol Castro will be the weather anchor, the network said in a statement Tuesday. They will replace Harry Smith, Maggie Rodriguez and Dave Price. Smith will move into the role of Katie Couric's backup anchor for The Evening News With Katie Couric, while the network is "discussing prominent and ongoing roles" for the other two displaced hosts.

Hill, a former news anchor for CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, has co-anchored The Early Show's Saturday edition with Wragge for two years. Wragge also has served as co-anchor for the evening news broadcasts on CBS's New York station since 2006.

The changes take effect Jan. 3.
