General Wax & Candle Co. of California recalled silver and gold taper candles sold at Yankee Candle stores nationwide because the metallic paint can catch fire, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

So far, there are no reports of injuries or cases of the candles igniting. About 33,000 of the 10-inch tapers were sold in Yankee Candle shops from October to November 2010 for about $2 each. The candles have $1.99 and the UPC codes of either 609032492687 or 609032492694 printed on the plastic wrapping.
