Kia Motors to Sell New Cars on eBay

Updated

Kia Motors Corp. (KIMTF) will start selling new vehicles through eBay Inc (EBAY) in a bid to expand U.S. sales.

More than 300 of the company's 725 U.S. dealers are enrolled to list inventory on eBay and on kia.ebay.com, Bloomberg News reported.

"This exposes our brand to a percentage of the car-buying public that perhaps wouldn't otherwise have considered us," Tom Loveless, Kia's vice president of U.S. sales, told Bloomberg News.

eBay is working to expand its sales of new vehicles, parts and services, which currently make up a smaller portion of revenue than used vehicles.

Last year, eBay had a new-vehicle promotion in California with General Motors Co. (GM). The automaker let the promotion expire after about eight weeks.
