Samsung Has Sold 3 Million Galaxy S Smartphones in the U.S.
Samsung Electronics (SSNHY) said it has shipped 3 million of its Galaxy S smartphone to the U.S., out of 7 million worldwide.
Supply of the phones, which run on Google's (GOOG) Android software, has been constrained by the Samsung AMOLED display technology, Chief Marketing Officer Paul Golden told Reuters. The phone went on sale in the U.S. in July.

"We're in a situation where we wish we had more supply," Golden said, who added that Samsung is working to boost AMOLED production.
Sales of the Apple (AAPL) iPhone still dwarf those of the Galaxy S. Apple sold more than 3 million units of its iPhone 4 in three weeks.
