Bing Maps Route Planner app optimizes Black Friday planning
The new Route Optimizer app built into Bing Maps makes it easy to add many destinations to a trip around town and find the best order to visit each location as well as how long it will take and the best way to get there. The Route Optimizer app can handle up to 100 destinations, which is more than you'll need for Black Friday, and hopefully more than you'll need for all of your holiday shopping.
Our recommendation is to skip your home address and put the store you are camping out at as your starting location. Given how fast doorbuster items go on Black Friday morning you'll want to pick your starting store and then have an optimized route to take to the rest of the stores you plan to visit.
Adding locations to your optimized route is straightforward, as shown in the steps below provided by Bing.
- Go to www.bing.com/maps
- Click on map apps on the lower left corner of the white box
- Click on the Route Savvy Route Optimizer
- Add in your destinations by clicking locations on the map, entering addresses manually on the left-rail, or uploading an Excel file with addresses on each row.
- Voila! In a matter of seconds the most optimal route for all your stops is mapped out, with point by point directions to assist.
After all of your locations are entered, you'll have the best route to get to all of your stores and have a better chance at a successful Black Friday outing. The tool will also come in handy when you do the rest of your holiday shopping, since traffic and parking will likely be a nightmare from Black Friday through Christmas Eve.
The Bing Maps Route Planner app is a perfect companion to Milo.com or the Milo Local Shopping app for Android which help you figure out which local stores have the items you want in stock and at what price.
