More Small Business Jobs Providing Health Insurance

Updated

Small business jobs are getting sweeter -- more come with health insurance.

Small businesses are providing health coverage primarily because of the incentive of a tax credit. The White House predicts that four million employers qualify for the credit. Beginning in 2010, that can cover up to 35 percent of the employer's insurance premium, reports The Wall Street Journal. As a result, according to Bernstein Research, 59 percent of employers with three to nine employees now provide insurance, compared to 46 percent last year.

However, you can't get too comfortable with this benefit. That's because many small businesses oppose the new health law. Some are joining big business to lobby against health reform. For now, you can enjoy working for a small business and still protect yourself with employer-sponsored health coverage.
