Hiring by Direct Sellers Avon, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Arbonne, Jafra

Updated

Direct sellers are hiring both for their front-line sales force and for sales management positions in corporate and overseas, reports Sales-Jobs.Fin.com. Those include Avon, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Arbonne International, and Jafra.

The biggest kept secret in job search is that the only segment in the sales sector that has added jobs in 2010 has been direct sales. Hiring was up 2 percent this year and 6 percent last year. Overall they employ about 22 million sales people.

What you have to keep in mind is that there are two kinds of jobs to apply for. One is that actual selling option which, in most situations, involves being an entrepreneur. Although Avon or Tupperware will train you, you operate independently. In a sense you operate your own business. You may like that and do well. So you stay there.

The other option is to migrate from that space into sales management with that particular company. Or, you can also apply to a number of other direct sales companies for those management kinds of jobs. Frequently they involve training and developing sales people as well as administrative and strategic tasks. You could be assisting in opening a new branch in Russia or China. Usually required is actual selling experience. Compensation can be lucrative. In special demand are those with bilingual skills.

The management jobs are usually advertised on the company's website and also on online boards such as CareerBuilder.com. They can be based in your current location, anywhere around the nation, or overseas as in India where Tupperware entered that market.
