MySpace will launch an original Web series focused on the so-called Jerk urban dance movement.
The series, "Jerk All-Stars" will consist of 14 episodes of several minutes each, with the series debuting next month Reuters reported. Sprite will be the exclusive sponsor.
Jerk, or Jerkin', is a dance movement that originated in Los Angeles. Dancers wear skinny jeans and brightly colored clothes. The jerk is a dance move in which dancers move their legs in and out.
Internet videos have helped popularize the movement.
"Discovering and being discovered is core to our DNA, as is self-expression," MySpace chief revenue officer Nada Stirratt said. "We noticed our audience got involved around this. That's why this is a great project for us."
The MySpace social network is a unit of NewsCorp. (NWS).
