Shred documents for free on Secure Your ID Day

Updated

If you're like many consumers, you probably have boxes or bags of personal documents you've been waiting to destroy before throwing in the trash. Not to worry. This Saturday, some 50 locations around the country will be shredding those documents for free as part of the Better Business Bureau's Secure Your ID Day.

Consumers can drop off up to two boxes of documents. In some locations, they can also drop off old cell phones for recycling.

The BBB reports that about 15,000 people dropped off their documents last year resulting in the shredding of 480 tons worth of papers.

For a list of communities that are participating and the locations, check the BBB's website.
