Utah's economy has been growing 3.5 percent annually. That's faster than economic growth in any other state except for North Dakota. And it's more than triple what the economy is doing in the United States in general.
Household incomes in Utah are increasing each year at about 5 percent. That's the fastest in the nation. It's also twice as fast as the national average. Your money goes further because essential services tend to cost less. For example, energy bills in Utah are about 35 percent below the national average.
Part of the reason Utah is thriving is how it treats business. It has reduced its corporate tax rate from 7 percent to 5 percent. Its regulations balance corporate needs and protection of other constituencies such as consumers and the environment. Among the companies based in Utah which are expanding have been Goldman Sachs, Adobe, Omniture, and Oracle.
